THE Bothwell Scarecrow Festival will return to the village next month - by popular demand.

The event proved a phenomenal success when it was held for the first time last year and this year’s festival will take place from Thursday to Sunday, September 6-9, at venues throught the village.

Once again, the focus will be on individuals, families, businesses and community groups making and displaying a whole variety of scarecrows for everyone to see, to talk about, photograph, laugh with and enjoy.

But it doesn’t stop there - there will also be concerts, open days, shows, dances, outdoor events, exhibitions and the scarecrow parade which was such a hit last year.

A 64-page programme provides all the information on the festival and possession of a programme is the passport to all the indoor and outdoor events and activities.

Tickets for all concerts and shows are available from the box office at Bothwell Post Office.

But as well as being a fun event the festival - for which there were over 300 scarecrows last year - is also a charity fundraiser with all proceeds going to Yorkhill Children’s Foundation

Organising committee chairman Harry Marsh said: “Last year’s inaugural event was a great success and we are hoping that this year’s festival will be even better.”
