Shine taken off new tenant’s arrival

BRANDON Shopping Centre in Motherwell has welcomed its third new tenant in less than a month, with the opening of the Interiors store in the former Peacocks unit on Brandon Parade East.

Interiors specialises in furniture, soft furnishings, lighting and accessories, with a huge range of artificial flowers for all occasions ranging from parties to weddings and funerals.

Majio Tagiz, a partner in the business which has five full and part-time staff, said: “We decided to come to this part of the world because of the positive response we received from Motherwell people coming into our shop in Argyle Street in Glasgow.

“We’ve got off to a solid start and now we are looking forward to building up our business in Motherwell.”

Meanwhile, the Card Factory has moved to the former Clinton Cards unit, which is double the size of its current shop.

William Gear, director of Chester Properties who own and run the Brandon Centre, said: “The opening of Interiors and the Card Factory upsizing, marks a very good month for the centre.

“They come on top of the opening of new arrivals PerfectHome and the Officers Club and around 2,000 people turning up for our Christmas lights switch on show.

“We are building up a real feel-good factor in the centre in the run-up to what we hope will be a bumper Christmas for all our traders and shoppers.”

It isn’t all good news though with Pure Gym which was expected to move into the top floor of the former Asda store now looking increasingly likely not to be moving to Motherwell.

The Times & Speaker contacted Pure Gym asking for their position, but received no response.
