VIEWPARK is to stage its first gala day in more than a quarter of a century later this year.

A committee of local people has been set up to organise the event which will take place in its original venue, the gala day park behind Burnhead District Hall, on Saturday, June 23.

And the committee, which currently has seven members, this week appealed for people in the area to become involved by volunteering to help organise the event and come up with fundraising ideas.

Committee secretary Sharon Swan said the gala day was being resurrected to bring the Viewpark community together and give them an event to focus on.
