Residents in Bellshill and Mossend have had their say on plans to set up new sports facilities at the Bellshill Academy playing fields,
Active Bellshill Community - the voluntary group behind plans to transform the pitches at Reema Road - held two public meetings at Bellshill YMCA to sound out the views of local people.
ABC will now use the information gathered to brief architects employed to design a facility to ensure the community can take part in affordable sports.
The group wants to ensure that any new facility would meet the needs of local people and compliment other sports facilities in the area.
Suggestions made at the meetings included outdoor activities such as football, hockey and tennis and indoors including martial arts, bowls and a multi-purpose activities hall.
Points were also raised regarding disabled access, floodlighting, noise, parking and activities for older people.
An ABC spokesperson said: “Over the next few months these designs will be budgeted and tested to ensure the project is affordable and will be self-financing.
“Later in the summer there will be further consultations to check that the proposed facilities meet all the needs of the community.”
