Pupils on right track to rescue school trip

PUPILS at Braidhurst High came up with an enterprising solution to save their school trip after it was nearly cancelled due to cost.

The third/fourth year schoolkids were asked to plan and organise their own trip and opted to visit Summerlee Heritage Park in Coatbridge, the only problem was funding.

After discovering that travelling with a private firm would cost too much, the pupils, aged 15 to 16, urged history teacher Laura Paterson to contact train operator ScotRail for help.

Theresa Gault, ScotRail's events and sponsorship manager, said: "They were very persuasive in seeking a link with us. It was impossible to turn them down."

A link between Scotrail and the school was signed and the pupils now had a way to travel to Coatbridge.
