Pupils pass with flying colours
AROUND 10,400 school pupils across North Lanarkshire received their exam results yesterday.
And it was celebrations all round as schools in the area produced a 10-year record high pass rate, with a rise in achievement for pupils at Standard Grade, Higher and Advanced Higher levels.
The number of fourth year pupils gaining five or more awards at credit or intermediate level rose from last year.
Fifth year pupils gaining one or more and three or more Higher Grade awards also increased from the 2011 successes as did the S6 pupils Higher results.
Christine Pollock, executive director of learning and leisure services, said: “This year’s excellent results are testament to the hard work put in by our young people and the dedication and commitment from our staff to encourage pupils and give them the best opportunity to achieve their future ambitions – so congratulations to them all.
“Figures are based on pre-appeal 2012 results so there’s still room for further improvement.”
