Police in Bellshill today (Monday) started a week-long winter road safety campaign.
It aims to raise awareness of safety issues and target repeat offenders who fail to adhere to road traffic laws.
Officers will be on hand to provide advice in respect of the nationwide ‘Take an hour to get ready for winter’ campaign launched by the Scottish Government last month.
Chief Inspector Rosie Wright, area commander at Bellshill, said: “At this time of year we know that drink driving increases and my officers will be actively seeking those who offend in this way.
“In addition, officers will deal with other offences directly impacting on the safety of all road users. I would urge all motorists to ensure their car is roadworthy for winter conditions.”
