Police appeals

A POLY tunnel used for growing vegetables was damaged at Firpark Primary some time between 4pm on Christmas Eve and 8.15am on Monday, January 7.

The laundry room in Glen Tower, Motherwell, was broken into at 1.55am on Tuesday, January 8, as were commercial premises in Logans Road, Motherwell, between 8pm on Friday (January 11) and 2.40am the next day.

There was also an attempt to break into a house in Hamilton Road, Motherwell, at 4.15pm last Wednesday (January 9).

A male suspect wearing dark clothing and bright white trainers is described as aged around 20, white, of slim build with dark brown hair.

He was witnessed climbing over a wall at this property before making his way along Cameron Street.

Scaffolding was stolen from the new Lochay homes development on Ravenshill Drive, Cleland, between 5.10am and 6am on Saturday, January 5.

It is believed that two people were involved in this theft, having been seen in a Ford Transit or similar van.

A purple BMW M3 car was stolen from a driveway in Brogan Crescent, Motherwell, between 6.30pm on Friday (January 11) and 10.30am the next day.

A blue Vauxhall Astra was damaged while parked in Gateside Road, Craigneuk, between 11.55pm on Friday (January 11) and noon the next day.

At 10.30pm on Saturday (January 12) another car, this time a Vauxhall Vectra, was also damaged and this time the owner looked out of their window and saw a group of youths run off in the direction of Briarwood.

POWER tools were stolen from a van in Laburnum Road, Uddingston, between 1pm and 2pm on Tuesday, January 8, after entry was forced to a roller shutter door.

THE showhome at the new Miller homes construction site on Fullwood Gardens off Stevenston Street, New Stevenston, was set on fire at 9.30pm last Wednesday (January 9).

On site security alerted both the police and fire services on discovery of the fire which appears to have been started deliberately with an accelerant.

TWO men aged 24 and 21 were arrested in Main Street, Holytown, at 9.15pm on Thursday (January 10), when, during a routine police stop, officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis in the vehicle.

A search uncovered a large amount of herbal cannabis and a later search of one of the accused’s home address in Hamilton area found further illegal drugs as well as the remains of a cannabis cultivation.

They will appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court at a later date.
