HAMILTON SHERIFF COURT

HAMILTON SHERIFF COURT

A man and a woman have admitted being involved in a cannabis-growing operation.

Graeme Moxey (36) and Mary Laing (55) were due to stand trial before a jury at Hamilton Sheriff Court on a string of drug-dealing charges.

However, shortly before the case was scheduled to start the pair admitted producing cannabis at a house in Biggar Road, Newarthill, in December 2012.

Moxey also admitted possession of diazepam while Laing pleaded guilty to charges involving the possession of ecstasy and amphetamine.

Allegations that both accused had ecstasy, amphetamine and diazepam with intent to supply others were dropped.

The court heard the pair were both living at the Biggar Road address when a police raid uncovered a small number of cannabis plants and quantities of the other drugs.

After the guilty pleas iSheriff Marie Smart called for background reports on Moxey and Laing who are due to be sentenced later this month.
