A NEW Motherwell business has been left with a hefty bill following a break-in.

Prego Cafe, which only opened three months ago on Brandon Parade, was targeted by thieves at the weekend.

The culprits struck sometime between 5pm on Saturday and 8pm on Sunday, leaving behind a costly repair job.

As well as smashing a window to gain entry, the suspects wrecked the till - and made off with just a small amount of cash.

The new cafe is sister to the popular Prego Italian restaurants in Lanark and Carluke.

Cafe owner Rita Faccenda was disappointed by the break-in, but says the experience hasn’t put her off Motherwell.
