Developers have insisted that they are taking active steps to market a £2.8 million Motherwell office block described as a ‘white elephant’.
Motherwell and Wishaw MSP John Pentland and MP Frank Roy recently raised concerns over Airbles House which has been empty since it was built four years ago.
But property consultant CBRE, acting on behalf of developers Airbles Road Properties, said efforts were being made to market the Grade A office building in Airbles Road with a view to bringing up to 200 jobs to the area.
CBRE representative Alistair Urquhart said the three-floor, 17,500 square feet layout of the building made it ideal for either a single occupier or subdivided to suit several occupiers.
He said: “Airbles House is a fantastic building and provides a great opportunity with enviable roadside profile and easy access to the motorway network.
“Alongside substantial rental incentives, its energy saving environmental ratings will also provide financial rewards for occupiers.
“We are seeing a significant upturn in the market with sentiment improving towards out of town developments.
“We are therefore confident this will result in major interest in the building.”
Paul Wellstead from Airbles Road Properties added: “Airbles House is a wonderful development in an enviable location. Locating in Motherwell offers a great opportunity for employers looking to grow their business as the economic picture continues to improve.
“In conjunction with our letting agents, we have devised a new strategy with a flexible approach to lease lengths and terms. Our quoting rent will be complemented by the availability of significant incentives.”
