Motherwell South Church welcomes new minister
THE congregation of a church in Motherwell welcomed its new minister recently by holding a special service of induction.
Motherwell South Parish Church's new minister Reverend Georgina M Baxendale BD, in deferred linkage with St Margaret's Parish Church, was introduced to the congregation at a service which was held in Dalziel St Andrew's Parish Church.
The venue for the event was quite fitting given that Rev Baxendale began her church life, and preached her first sermon in the church that is now Dalziel St Andrew's.
Over 500 people attended the service conducted by the Presbytery of Hamilton, including the Moderator David Watt, Depute Clerk Rev Norman McKee, along with many Presbytery members, representatives of other local churches, members of both congregations, and many of Georgie's family and friends.
An inspiring sermon was delivered by the Rev Gavin Black and participating members of both churches were Kenny Maddock, Alistair McKerral, Rebecca Renwick, Carly Slamin and Cis Dewar.
At the welcome social afterwards, presentations were made to Rev Baxendale by Session Clerks Iain Gray and Rita Cloughley and to the Rev Norman MacLeod, Interim Moderator, by Margaret MacFarlane.
