ERC is also arranging free transport to and from the capital, and anyone interested in attending is asked to apply for a place.

The multi-faith Drumehead Service is a re-enactment of the type of military service which would have taken place 100 years ago, and will be familiar to the 3,000 servicemen and women also attending.

Those attending will also have the chance to walk down the Royal Mile to Holyrood Park, following a march towards a dedicated memorial site.

To apply for tickets, call ERC on 577 3107/3108/3143.
