Motherwell man charged with city murder

A MOTHERWELL man has been charged with the murder of a Thai businesswoman during an international medical conference in Glasgow this week.

Security guard Clive Carter (34), of Glen Court, appeared from custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Represented by solicitor Diarmid Bruce and solicitor-advocate John Paul Mowberry, he made no plea to the charge and was remanded in custody.

A further hearing is likely next week.

Khanokporn Satjawat (42) was found dead in a toilet at the Clyde Auditorium, popularly known as the Armadillo, on Monday.

She had been attending the International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection.

Carter was working for security firm G4S at the conference venue. He was formerly employed as a steward at Motherwell’s Megabar.
