Modest Les awarded MBE honour

LES Hoey has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours list.

Wishaw man Les, who works for Network Rail in Motherwell, works tirelessly to grant wishes for terminally ill children.

He also organises a Christmas party for youngsters from all over the west of Scotland at Fir Park Stadium every year.

He said: “I’m dedicating it to all ‘my’ children who have passed away. If it means I might get better things for the kids, I’ll take it, but I don’t do this for medals.”
