Mixed report for nursery

Education Scotland inspected Windmill Nursery

Education Scotland inspected Windmill Nursery

Windmill Nursery in Motherwell has received an inspection from Education Scotland.

Inspectors were impressed with the warm, caring, nurturing relationships between staff and children and the positive experience provided by a stable staff team.

They also praised the support from the local education development officer to improve the nursery and the strong relationships between parents and the nursery staff.

However, following discussions with staff and North Lanarkshire Council it was agreed that children needed a wider variety of well-planned stimulating experiences to meet individual needs.

The curriculum in the three to five room will be developed in line with Curriculum for Excellence and children will be provided with richer outdoor learning experiences.

The management team were urged to undertake stronger leadership and improve how the centre monitors and evaluates the work of the nursery.

The council will monitor progress and update Education Scotland on it within a year so they can decide if another inspection is deemed necessary.
