Police said drugs were seized on motorway.

A Carfin man has been charged after £1 million worth of drugs was seized from a vehicle on the M74.

Laurence Simonini (26), of Dalmore Crescent, appeared in private at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week. He is accused of being concerned in the supply of amphetamine and the charge states the offence is ‘aggravated by a connection to serious and organised crime’.

Police said the arrest was made on the motorway near Larkhall on March 20 during ‘an intelligence-led operation’.

Simonini, represented by solicitor Kevin McCarron, made no plea during the private court hearing and was given bail while enquiries continue.
