The lorry gets towed away

A 59-year-old man suffered only minor injuries after the lorry he was driving tipped onto its side at the railway bridge on Craigneuk Street, Motherwell, last Wednesday around 11am.

The incident occurred as he tried to drive the 16-foot trailer under the 15-foot bridge. Fortunately, he wasn’t seriously injured and the bridge was only slightly damaged.

The driver, from Baillieston, was treated at Wishaw General for minor injuries to his arm. The road was closed for four hours as the lorry was removed and the scene cleared.

The driver has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal with regards to road traffic offences.
