Kicking up a stink about dog waste

Dog bins are emptied weekly in North Lanarkshire

Dog bins are emptied weekly in North Lanarkshire

North Lanarkshire Council was baffled as to how dog waste was left uncollected for a week in Range Road, Motherwell, but guarantees it won’t happen again.

After dog bins are emptied the bags are left to be collected by a second crew, but for some reason this did not happen.

A spokesman for North Lanarkshire Council said: “Bins in the Range Road area are emptied every Thursday with the waste collected on the same day.

“Should any bags be inadvertently missed, they can be reported to our Customer Contact Centre on 01698 403110.”

Despite being left exposed for so long the bag remained untouched, much to the relief of one resident.

He said: “Can you imagine the mess if a seagull or a fox had decided to investigate the bags.

“We can only hope that the bags are picked up in future and we never have to find out.”
