Julie set for monster challenge
REPRESENTATIVES of Bellshill women's group Humjolie visited Maggie's Lanarkshire to hand over the proceeds of their One Gender Many Cultures fashion show.
The event in the Strathclyde Hilton raised 1,200 as around 30 Lanarkshire women modelled a variety of clothes reflecting the range of cultural backgrounds in the county.
Meanwhile, Maggie's Lanarkshire community fundraiser Julie Burns is currently training for Maggie's seventh annual Monster Bike & Hike which takes place in the Highlands this May.
Last year, she and three colleagues raised over 3,000 after cycling for 30 miles and hiking for eight miles.
This year they are upping the ante as they take on the challenge of cycling 30 miles and hiking an incredible 43 miles.
Julie said: "I took part in Monster for the first time last year and had a brilliant time.
"After cycling for 30 miles and hiking for eight miles I had such a great sense of achievement.
"This year we're going to the gold finish, so, I'm feeling a little bit nervous but mostly really excited about taking on this new challenge."
