Hundreds caught without TV licence

MORE than 480 Motherwell residents and over 260 people in Bellshill have been caught watching TV without a licence already this year.

They are among more than 2,790 people caught in North Lanarkshire during the first six months of the year.

Fergus Reid, TV Licensing spokesperson for Scotland, said: “Unfortunately, a minority of people do not pay for their licence, which is unfair to the law-abiding majority who do pay.

“If people decide to watch TV without being properly licensed, they risk prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.”
