North Lanarkshire Council has taken delivery of nine new 4x4 vehicles.

The Skoda Yetis replace the traditional vans used by home support staff allowing them to repond to emergencies in all weathers.

Housing and Social Work Services executive director Duncan Mackay said: “We have more than 12,500 community alarm users, and these new vehicles will help support workers respond to emergency alerts .

“In recent years really stormy and wintry conditions made it difficult for staff to reach those in need, but these new vehicles should make it much easier in future.”
