Bellziehill roundabout - partial closure for repairs
DRIVERS travelling out of Bellshill towards Viewpark or Coatbridge could face almost a month of disruption when the town’s Bellziehill roundabout is partially closed for repairs.
The closure is the latest in a series of shutdowns at the busy roundabout - but contractors Amey denied the work is being undertaken because previous repairs weren’t carried out properly.
The work will involve waterproofing of the southern bridgedeck, a process which was also carried out just over two years ago and which will be similar to work done on the northern bridgedeck last year.
North Lanarkshire Council has issued a temporary order for the closure of the bridgedeck from Friday, March 1, until Sunday, March 24, although Amey say they expect the work to take only two weeks.
During the closure, although the southern bridge will be closed the slip roads and the northern bridge will remain open.
However traffic travelling from Bellshill to Viewpark will face a lengthy diversion via the Raith Interchange.
Amey said this week that the work was being done because of severe weather conditions since it was last carried out two and a half years ago.
