Garden search proves negative
A POLICE search of a Motherwell garden for missing teacher Ellen Ruffle has proved negative.
The mother-of-two went missing in 1969 and now fearing she was murdered forensics teams began investigating the garden of her former home in Annan Glade.
An extensive search of the property was carried out utilising sensitive equipment found nothing.
This was followed by the excavation of an area to the rear of the property, but this too failed to turn up any evidence.
The property has now been handed back to the householder, and the police are grateful for the assistance and cooperation provided at this location.
Further searches will be conducted in the immediate area over the coming days and weeks, however police stress that there will be no disruption to local residents.
This remains an active investigation and anyone who has any knowledge of Mrs Ruffle is asked to contact the police.
