Fresh fears for Viewpark Glen
CAMPAIGNERS are worried about a fresh threat to Viewpark Glen after plans for new industrial buildings in adjacent Strathclyde Business Park were approved.
A massive community protest killed off a proposed extension to the business park in 2004 and at that time North Lanarkshire Council Jim McCabe said expansion would be ‘an exercise in futility’.
But now Fusion Assets, a company set up by the council with private sector partners, has been given planning permission for new units.
Dozens of trees have been felled and Viewpark Conservation Group is worried about further development in the glen itself.
Full story in this week’s Bellshill Speaker, out on January 2.
