Engineering jobs risk at Motherwell company
THIRTY-three jobs could be axed as a Motherwell engineering company's future hangs in the balance.
Anderson Precision Gears, based at Flemington Industrial Park, has been placed in voluntary provisional liquidation.
Unless a buyer can be found, the 'highly skilled' posts will be lost.
The news comes after one of the company's biggest customers - an Asian supplier to the wind energy sector - withdrew from a major deal.
APG was placed in liquidation by its directors, who are now working with MLM Insolvency in a bid to find a solution.
Managing director Willie Wales says employees were shocked by the news as things had been looking up.
He said: "The outlook appeared more positive than at any time during past two years.
"Unfortunately, one of our biggest customers was forced to abandon plans to place significant levels of business with us.
Mr Wales said staff would keep working to complete orders already in progress while work continues behind the scenes to see if a deal can be done.
