The Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Uddingston is hoping to make this the summer which their longest serving resident finally finds a home.

Duchess’s carer Kristine Weir met her seven years ago as a nine-month-old puppy, when she first started working at the centre.

In that time she’s been overlooked by over 50,000 people and seen over 7,000 other dogs find homes.

Kristine has taught the crossbreed a number of commands including sit, down, paw, roll over and speak.

She said: “I love my job and have been lucky enough to have seen thousands of dogs find their forever homes over the last seven years, but nothing could really compare to seeing Duchess finding a loving new family of her own.

“I know I shouldn’t have favourites, but Duchess is such an affectionate, fun loving dog that I have a real soft spot for her.

“Duchess is a sweet natured girl who would prefer to be the only dog in the home so that she can enjoy all your attention to herself.

“She is looking for an adult only home with patient owners who will help her settle into a home after spending so long in kennels.

“She takes while to trust people but as soon as she gains a person’s trust she will become will be your friend for life and lavish you with love.

“I can’t believe that she has been so unlucky to have been overlooked over all these years by so many potential owners when she is such a fantastic girl.

“We are entirely reliant on funding so are very grateful to player’s of Peoples Postcode Lottery as their support ensures we are able to care for dogs like Duchess for as long as it takes for her to find the loving home which she deserves.”
