DHL workers step out to deliver for charity
Bellshill DHL Scottish Charity Walk/Cycle on the fair island of Millport
A GROUP of workers from a Bellshill depot made a heroic effort for charity last weekend.
The 10 employees from the DHL road haulage and transport services base in Bellshill North Industrial Estate headed for Millport to take part in the company’s charity cycle and walk around the isle of Cumbrae.
They were joined by colleagues from other DHL depots in Livingston, Cumbernauld and East Kilbride with all proceeds from the event going to the Help for Heroes charity which supports wounded armed forces personnel.
Each person had the target of raising a minimum of £50 but the overall figure raised by the 40 participants is likely to exceeed £5,000 with the Bellshill contingent contributing more than £2,000 towards the total.
Those taking part in the event were regional general manager Derek Jones, senior transport front line manager David Johnson, nightshift manager John Hunter, nightshift supervisors Martin Rendal and Ross Melville and drivers George McBryer, Jim Lindsay, John Roberts, Tommy Miller and Eddie Berney who cycled the island at the ripe of age of 68.
