A Motherwell church has landed a second lottery funding windfall to carry out improvement works.
Earlier this month Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church was awarded almost £150,000 to overhaul its roof and walls after a £74,600 Heritage Lottery Fund donation was match funded by Historic Scotland.
Now the church will also get a further £57,032 from the Big Lottery Fund (Investing in Communities).
The money will be put towards the cost of installing a lift in the community halls section to assist all to gain access to the upper floor hall areas.
New of the latest financial support was given to delighted congregation members on Sunday.
Church minister the Rev Derek Hughes said: “We are delighted that our suite of town centre halls is increasingly used by many in the community in Motherwell.
“This award, added to the continued fundraising efforts of the congregation, will allow this much needed lift facility to be added so that all, no matter their mobility, can get around the whole building. We are so very indebted to The Big Lottery for their continued support.”
The church also previously received financial support to restore the historic Walcker Pipe Organ.
