Calder closure approved

COUNCILLORS have decided to press ahead with their plan shut Motherwell’s Calder Primary School.

The proposed closure of the school in the summer, and the relocation of pupils to either Muir Street of Glencairn Primary, was agreed on Wednesday by North Lanarkshire Council’s leisure and learning committee and then rubber-stamped at a special full council meeting.

Campaigners against the closure are now hoping that the plan will be called in for determination by Scottish Ministers.
