Brandon Centre owners say new shops are on the way

NEW retailers will be opening up shop in Motherwell town centre in the coming months according to its owners.

The owners of Brandon Shopping Centre, Cala Properties Ltd, revealed that several retailers have expressed interest in moving into the former Asda unit, which undergoing a major refurbishment.

Work has already started on the site, which was home to Marketworld, to make three equal size units of 12,000 sq ft.

Cala Properties Ltd managing director Alisdair MacConnell has advised that one retailer, who cannot be named at this stage, is expected to move into the unit which will be closest to Poundland around June when the work should be finished.

He also advised that another retailer had expressed interest in moving into one of the two remaining units but that deal fell through last week.

It is believed that this retailer has instead opted to take over the former Woolworths store, which is not owned by Cala Properties Ltd.
