Body confirmed as that of missing man

A BODY found on the Ravenscraig site on Christmas Eve has been confirmed as that of missing New Stevenston man Kevin Curran.

Kevin (41) went missing after attending Wishaw General Hospital for treatment to an eye injury on Sunday, December 9.

A police investigation was launched and searches took place in his home town as well as in Craigneuk and Ravenscraig where he had been spotted.

A spokesperson for Strathclyde Police said: “Around 10.25am on Monday, December 24, the body of a man was found within the grounds of the disused Ravenscraig Steelworks in Motherwell. He has been formally identified as Kevin Curran.

“There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

“Relatives are aware and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
