Bellshill Tesco to open at last

THE new Tesco Extra store in Bellshill will open its doors to the public for the first time on Monday morning.

The newly-placed staff are busy making final preparations following the completion of work to upgrade the North Road roundabout which will provide access to the store.

The road re-opened last Friday after being closed since September for the upgrade.

The new store has brought 280 new full-time and part-time jobs to Bellshill.

Store manager Neil Conway said: "These are all local jobs for local people and I am very proud to have played a part in breathing new life into the heart of the Bellshill community."

The project was hit by delays but Tesco insisted throughout that it remained committed to the store.

The doors will open at 6am on Monday with the official opening ceremony at 10am.
