Bellshill author pens second book

BELLSHILL-born author Mark Wilson has penned another book.

Bobby’s Boy is his first fiction work following autobiographical Paddy’s Daddy, and is available in all North Lanarkshire Libraries.

It follows the trials and tribulations of main character Tom Kinsella, and Mark’s home town even gets a mention.

He said: “I was born in Bellshill in 1975 and lived there on and off until I was around 28. Since then I’ve lived mainly in the East of Scotland, currently Edinburgh, which is home now.

“Bellshill, Lanarkshire and Scotland generally influence every aspect of my writing, particularly in Bobby’s Boy which is riddled with stories and examples of the Bellshill people’s resilience, warmth and humour.

“I hate that Scots are portrayed as hard-drinking, violent nutters in most books, and wanted to show my country folk, and those from my home town, in the positive light that they deserve, as the great folk that they are.”
