A load of stuffing to do at festival

BOTHWELL had plenty to crow about when the village staged a highly successful scarecrow festival.
Following last year’s inaugural event, this year’s festival proved even more popular with villagers and visitors turning out in force.
The highlight of the four-day festival was the parade of scarecrows through the village on Sunday, followed by an afternoon of fun at Woodean Park with a host of activities for all the family.
These included the Drakes of Hazard, back by popular demand, Chinese dragons, community market and taster sessions organised by a number of local sports clubs.
Organising committee chairman Harry Marsh said: “We had around double the number of people that we had last year and it didn’t rain which was a huge bonus.
“Every event which we organised was very busy and we were absolutely delighted to have had such a response - the event really seems to have captured people’s imagination.”
For a special picture round-up from the festival see September 12 issue of the Motherwell Times or Bellshill Speaker.
