An Uddingston teenager is in line to land a prestigious award given to those studying for a career in agriculture and other land-based subjects.

Kaleem Shaikh (19) is among six nominees for the Land-based and Aquaculture Learner of the Year award given by Lantra Scotland, the skills council for the land-based and environmental industries.

Kaleem studies at the Oatridge campus of Scotland’s Rural College in West Lothian and recently won an SRUC prize as the best student on National Certificate Agriculture course.

The winner will be revealed at a ceremony at the Hilton Dunblane Hydro Hotel on March 6.
