Joint service to celebrate Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

A ECUMENICAL service to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen is being organised by the Presbytery of Hamilton.

It will be conducted by the Moderator, the Rev Robert Hamilton at Airdrie New Wellwynd Church, where he is based, on Sunday, May 27 at 3pm.

The Right Rev Joseph Devine, Bishop of Motherwell, and the Very Rev Ian Barcroft, Dean of the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, will share in the service.

They will be joined by the Rev Shaw Paterson, clerk to Hamilton Presbytery; the Rev Dr John McPake, depute clark, and representatives of local high schools.

The preacher will be the Rev James Gibson, minister of Bothwell Parish Church and Chaplain in Ordinary to Her Majesty The Queen, member of the Chapel Royal in Scotland.

Also in attendance will be the Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Mushtaq Ahmad and his deputes.

Invitations have been extended to members of the Presbytery and representatives of North and South Lanarkshire Councils and a number of adult and youth organisations.

Members of the public are also welcome to attend.
