St Bride’s Primary pupil Amy Gray has won a drawing competition organised by Tesco in Uddingston which asked local youngsters to design a poster showing what they love about summer.

The ten-year-old’s Amy Gray’s entry featuring a person enjoying a BBQ and music in a park has been transferred onto limited edition hessian bags that are being given away free to customers at the store.

Store manager Peter McIntyre said: “We received hundreds of outstanding entries with very bright, summery designs, but it was Amy’s entry that really stood out for us. Her design reflected everything we love about summer and it looks fantastic on the hessian bags!”

Customer experience manager Bukky Olu went to a special assembly at St Bride’s to present Amy with her prize of a £25 gift card and the school with a cheque for £500.

The school has been given 400 bags to share with staff, pupils and parents.

Head teacher Denise Pacitti said: “Our pupils really enjoyed taking part in the Tesco drawing competition and we are all very proud of Amy.

“The hessian bags look amazing and are the perfect keepsake for Amy to remember her achievement. We would like to thank Tesco for inviting us to take part and for the £500 donation.”
