Isa celebrates 100th birthday

RESIDENTS and staff at Parksprings Care Home in Motherwell gathered to celebrate the 100th birthday of resident Isabel Penrice.

The birthday girl was also joined by family and friends, as well as North Lanarkshire Provost Jim Robertson and Depute Lord Lieutenant Louie Munn, for the special celebration.

Isabel, nee Chalmers, was born in Old Monkland on April 11, 1913. She had a twin brother, Jim, and three older brothers.

Known as Isa, she worked as a seamstress in gents tailoring from leaving school until she married the late John Penrice in 1935 and moved to Holytown.

They had two daughters, the late Isabel and Dorothy.

Isa, who moved to Parksprings in 2011, is a devoted gran to four grandsons, three great granddaughters and a late great grandson, as well as a great, great grandson.
