A BELLSHILL man serving onboard the HMS Liverpool off the coast of Libya is counting down the days till he returns - so he can enjoy some home cooked grub.

Baz Barrett (33) contacted the Speaker from the ship to pass on a hello to family and friends, and said he couldn’t wait to get home to tuck into black pudding, square sausage and tatty scones!

Having served 11 years with the Royal Navy, Baz - or PO(WS) (AWT) Barrett - currently works as an operations room manager and tactical picture supervisor.

He is due to return to the UK in November, and can’t wait to see wife Heather and meet up with fellow members of the Holytown Winemakers’ Association.
