A Motherwell man has desperately appealed for help in tracing his dog, after the pet was swiped from a garden.

CCTV footage of the six-month-old Border Terrier pup, owned by Chris Whyte, being taken has been sweeping social media this week.

It appears to show a man petting the dog through a fence on Chesters Crescent, before he grabs it and makes off.

Chris told the Times he had the dog just a matter of hours before it was stolen on Monday evening, and had driven to York to collect him only earlier that day.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the dog is urged to call Chris on 07861 640914, or Police Scotland on 101.
