MOTHERWELL residents Paula Maling and Colin Porter are on the way to kicking their smoking habit.

The pair are attending a Stop Smoking clinic at Jerviston Community Centre which meets each Thursday from 1pm to 2pm.

Public health practitioner Annette Harvie, of NHS Lanarkshire's Motherwell Locality, explained: "The group provides advice, support and free nicotine replacement therapy.

"This approach is proven to be the most effective way to give up smoking.

"It's not too late to make a new year's resolution to make a big difference to your health, your family and your finances."
