MOTHERWELL woman Helen Storrie has retired after 42 years in nursing.

She marked the occasion with a night at Dalziel Park Hotel organised by practice nurse colleagues from Motherwell, Modyrvale and Orchard Health Centres.

Helen began her training aged 17 at Parkwood, Cleland and Law Hospitals before becoming a community practice sister.

For the last 19 years she worked at Motherwell Health Centre for Dr McPhail’s practice until taking early retirement.

Helen said: “For 38 years I never had a day off sick, but I got ill and had no option but to retire early.

“All I ever wanted to be was a nurse and I can say that all the years working in Motherwell were absolutely brilliant.

“I would like to thank all the practice nurses for arranging such a fantastic night out.”

Helen is now looking forward to pursuing her hobbies of dressmaking and DIY.
