Hope Street in Motherwell will only be closed for two days, despite a sign saying it will be closed for five days accidentally being erected.

A key artery in Motherwell town centre will be shut all weekend due to roadworks.

Hope Street in Motherwell will be closed between its junctions with Muir Street and Pollock Street for resurfacing work.

Drivers looking to turn onto Hope Street from Muir Street to reach Merry Street are advised to head to Mossend and drive along Main Street until they reach the Carfin/Holytown link road to take them onto Merry Street.

Those trying to reach Muir Street from Merry Street should use Menteith Road and West Hamilton Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the work.

In addition to Hope Street there is also a contraflow currently in place on Hamilton Road to enable Scotia Gas Networks to replace pipes.

Meanwhile, streets in Holytown and New Stevenston will be closed from Monday to Friday for resurfacing work.

In Holytown the work will take place on Sunnyside Crescent from its junction with Sunnyside Avenue to its junction with Sunnyside Place.

The work in New Stevenston will be from 90-124 Quarry Street.

Diversions will be in place.
