A POSTMASTER showed remarkable bravery when confronted by a would-be robber who claimed he had a gun.
Despite the threat, Sarbit Minhas kept his cool and asked Steven McCall to show him the weapon which the raider claimed was in a bag.
Keeping him talking, the postmaster then suggested McCall take out the gun and fire a shot into the corner of his shop to prove it was real.
The 10-minute stand-off at Tannochside Post Office finally ended when a panic alarm was pressed and McCall left empty-handed, moaning ‘I’ll get done for this anyway.’
The ‘bizarre’ episode emerged when McCall (41), a prisoner, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.
He admitted assaulting Mr Minhas with intent to rob him at the Thorniewood Road post office on April 6 this year while already on bail for another matter.
Sheriff Vincent Smith deferred sentence until August 3 and McCall was remanded in custody.
