TWO Guides from Bellshill are getting ready for a once in a lifetime trip to Ghana.

Emily Aitken (19) and Lauren Fagan (17) are preparing to travel to the west African country in the summer to carry out volunteer work.

The pair are members of the 4th Bellshill Guide unit, which is affiliated with MacDonald Memorial Church.

While Lauren is a Young Leader with the Brownies, Emily is working towards the Leaders qualification with the Guides.

During their trip, they will work with local Guides on sporting projects.

Now that the ball is rolling with the trip, the girls are busy fundraising to cover the £3,000 cost.

They will host a ‘roll and sausage morning’ on Saturday between noon and 2pm at MacDonald Memorial Church hall, followed by a ladies’ night at Orbiston Bowling Club on Friday, March 1.

Emily and Lauren would appreciate donations of raffle prizes and any assistance with fundraising. For further details, email emilyaitken@blueyonder.co.uk.
