MOSSEND couple Mary and George Adamson celebrated their golden wedding on Saturday with a party at the Bentley Hotel in Motherwell.
They met at the dancing in Bellshill and after a three-year courtship were married at the West End Church.
Initally an apprentice boilermaker in Carfin, George joined the railways in Motherwell and worked his way from locomotive cleaner to fireman, then driver and finally train crew supervisor.
Mary was a factory worker and spent 32 years at Honeywell Controls in Newhouse.
George volunteered at Bellshill Citizens Advice and raised thousands of pounds for St Andrew’s Hospice and other charities.
The couple have two children, Anne and Alistair, and two grandchildren, Frankie and Louise.
