People looking forward to receiving a new living room suite in time for Christmas could be left disappointed.
Furniture giant ScS has been forced to admit it has no idea where in the world a shipment bound for its store in Birkenshaw Industrial Estate has ended up.
The container, which had more than 15 suites in it, was due to arrive at the Rannoch Road showroom around mid-November as it completed its journey from Asia.
However, it failed to appear and ScS bosses are now scouring the globe in search of it as the container remains missing.
They have also stated customers will be offered compensation due to the inconvenience.
ScS CEO David Knight said: “We are in the process of contacting the small number of customers whose sofas are in the missing container and offering our sincere apologies together with the offer of loan furniture and compensation.
“We are also doing everything we can to trace the missing container including gathering information from every handling point in the overseas delivery process.
“We will, of course, be contacting customers as soon as there is any further information.”
Stevie Brown was expecting to receive his new suite on November 19 and was distressed when it did not appear as promised.
He said: “I was lied to by their untrained staff as they tried to buy themselves some time by saying that they had made a mistake and our actual expected date was the 25th.
“I wonder how many other people are experiencing the same poor service from ScS or indeed have an order on the ever elusive shipping container.
“Potentially this is going to leave many people without a suite over the Christmas period as they simply don’t know when this is going to turn up.”
