A CHRISTMAS fayre was held in Motherwell recently to raise vital funds for a group of carers.

The fayre at the Pat Cullinan Community Centre was organised by parents and carers from Clydeview School and Nursery and Firpark School with support from Community Learning and Development.

The group Feel Fantastic Fridays, who organised the fayre, have participated in a range of learning opportunities over the last year including relaxation, Christmas wrapping, exercise, and arts and crafts designed to help them feel more prepared for their caring duties.

Emma Deans, CLD worker for schools, said “The increased skills and confidence that the parents have gained from organising the Christmas fayre and from meeting other carers has been tremendous.

“It was a great afternoon and provided a way for the group to let other carers know about what they do.

“The group raised £180 and now hope to become constituted next year.

If you are a parent/carer from Clydeview School and Nursery or Firpark School and would like more information or to join the group, contact Emma or Clare on 01698 335780.
