A PROJECT aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour among youths has been launched at Birkenshaw Sports Barn.

The Friday Night Project aims to reduce youth-related incidents by providing a safe environment for young people to meet up and take part in a range of activities.

It has been hailed a huge success after initially being launched in Holytown in 2009.

Over the past year, 2,430 youngsters have got involved, and youth-related incidents such as disorder, assault, street drinking and general complaints have reduced by more than 50 per cent over the time the project has been running.
