FIREFIGHTERS held an open day in Motherwell recently to highlight issues they face when rescuing people who have been involved in a road traffic collision.

The Lanarkshire Road Safety Open Day, held at Motherwell Community Fire Station, also gave the public a chance to get vital road safety advice.

During the event, firefighters from across the Strathclyde region competed in a extrication challenge which showed the public how people are rescued after being involved in an accident.

The day, however, was also about entertaining the kids, and there was plenty of activities available to keep them amused.
